A Private Gallery in the Heart of Old Chelsea...
During the 19th and 20th centuries, Chelsea had a reputation as an artistic and bohemian colony; Mallord Street itself numbered residents including Augustus John, A.A. Milne and the painter Cecil Hunt.
One Mallord Street was purpose-designed and built as an artist's studio in the late 19th Century. Its high ceilings and expansive walls are naturally conducive to exhibiting art; and the principal studio room is an ideal space for chamber music. Within this ambient and historical setting Vivien McLean is reviving the Salon des Arts tradition, providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which to introduce the talented but commercially fledgling artist to potential patrons, dealers and gallerists.
